Concerning mobility, the plan structured the city connecting with its surrounding areas on three different levels (the mediterranean coast, the Spanish peninsula and Europe). The inside consists of grid-like streets (aligned with the direction of the wind) of a generous width that anticipated the coming of motorized vehicles. Furthermore, in its forward-looking vision, the plan already incorporated railroad lines.

48h Open House Barcelona is presenting a talk between different institutions and technicians who are working for the mobility of the city: A technician of the metropolitan area of Barcelona will explain how interurban mobility is efficiently planned and laid out for the first and second surrounding belt. A representative of the city hall of Barcelona will speak about urban mobility and how new models, that are being introduced to reduce air pollution, turn Cerdà’s plan upside down.
